Monroe State Forest

Find amazing views of valleys and waterfalls in this wooded forest. As you follow trails, be on the lookout for the remnants of 19th-century cellar holes and stone walls. Hike to the top of Spruce Mountain or Raycroft Lookout for amazing views. A 4,321-acre forest that is in southern and central Monroe and extends into Florida. It includes a lookout platform at the side of Hunt Hill and more than five miles of native trout streams.  It is reached off Route 2, east on Monroe Road.  No all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).
