Mohican-Mohawk Trail
The Mahican-Mohawk Trail roughly parallels the Mohawk Trail Scenic Byway. The trail is a re-creation of one or more Native American trails that linked the Connecticut and Hudson Rivers by following the Deerfield and the Hoosic Rivers for 100 miles. The trail, still under development, is envisioned as a 100-mile, long-distance trail from the Connecticut River Valley to the Hudson Valley, following the corridor of the historic Native American path.
Approximately 34 miles of the trail are open and designated in Massachusetts as woodland trail, on-road segments, and water trail on the Deerfield River. Although primarily envisioned as a hiking trail, different segments are also appropriate for cycling, snowmobiling, horseback riding and paddling.
