Burkeville Covered Bridge
The Burkeville Covered Bridge was built in 1870, and is the oldest surviving covered bridge in the United States. It crosses the South River just west of Conway and is believed to be unique in the northeast in its forward-looking incorporation of iron tension members into a traditional timber truss. The bridge is closed to vehicular traffic, but accessible by bicycle or on foot; there is a small parking area directly in front of the bridge.
